Ambien is a drug that is used by the people for the treatment of insomnia. It is getting popularized day by day. But uses for ambien drug should be taken under some conditions that don't harm our infants.

Is it safe during breast feeding?
Ambien is not good for infants. According to some of the studies scientist have found that Ambien should not be taken by the mothers by the period of breast feeding. If they take Ambien during this period, it is being found in the milk of mother. Therefore, Ambien is strictly provided by the health care organizations. If this procedure is tough enough to leave, the alternate process is to stop feeding breast milk to the infant.
But this is not too harmful for the infants. Ambien has been found in a very low quantity in mother's milk. Its ingredients are very low in number. The dose of uses for ambien after 3 to 4 hours of breast feeding is only .004 to .019%. But anyway care must be taken in order to avoid this kind of mistake for the infants.

It has some disadvantages. The main problem rises at the time when a new mom feeding her breast milk to her child. She feels pain during this time. Ambien causes the flow of pressure in her breast. Because of these problems she might feel sleeping problem and some other problems too. That's why doctors prohibit mothers for long time taking of Ambien. Otherwise, it causes future problems both for the mom and her child.

It causes problem not only for mother but also for her child. AAFP has found some problems that are created by taking of Ambien. They may be irritable, Drowsy, Crying for no reason, sleeping problems etc. It is recommended that it should be taken only in severe cases. If it is taken for a short period of time, there will be fewer problems for the infant.

The mother feels drowsy. Because of this reason she can't feed the child in time. It also causes nutrition problem for the mother. The infant doesn't get enough milk for this problem which might result in some serious cases.  The mother can't concentrate on her works. She feels uncomfortable and drowsy. The breast becomes swollen. So, she should stay away from taking this drug during breast feeding period. Moreover, liver and kidney problems also occur when taking this drug for a long period of time. It should be decided by the doctor of the amount of uses for ambien.
